Lt. Governor Aruna Miller

Lt. Governor Aruna Miller has devoted her life to public service and removing systemic barriers to opportunity. Her family immigrated to the United States from India when she was 7. She spent 25 years working at the local Department of Transportation in Montgomery County to create equitable transportation access. Then, she represented District 15 in the Maryland House of Delegates, where she worked with her constituents to create legislation to invest in STEM education, streamline the regulatory process for small businesses, and was a champion for working families, survivors of domestic abuse, and the environment.

The workshop will explore the importance of touch for healing, wellness and connection. It will cover how touch is critical to human growth and development; the positive biological and chemical changes in the body in response to touch; the therapeutic benefits of touch and the socially acceptable forms of touch that strengthens bonds and builds trust.

This workshop will focus on equipping community organizations, public agencies, and others with tools and skills to provide equitable, culturally, and linguistically appropriate depression-informed services for uninsured Latinos in Baltimore City; and building a safety net to address depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues in the Latino community.
